When you purchase an auto insurance policy, you can choose one that includes verbal/lawsuit threshold, which makes for less expensive premiums. However, a verbal threshold also limits your ability to sue except in cases where you have sustained serious permanent injuries, death, permanent scarring, and a few other consequences delineated by the statute. For this reason it is important to have an attorney review your insurance policy and the nature and extent of your injuries to see if your case will be one that can pierce the threshold.
